Those of you sailing on longer expedition voyages which travel offshore, or cruising the rich coastal waters of beautiful Alaska, Maine, maritime Canada, wild Labrador or Greenland will have the pleasure of pelagic bird watching. Gregarious seabirds congregate around feeding whales and readily follow fishing trawlers seeking chum. Wanderbird is no exception!
While in the north, we frequently see Wilson’s Storm Petrels; Northern Gannet; Greater, Manx & Sooty Shearwater; Northern Fulmar; and a variety of Gulls & Terns. As we travel southwards during the fall migration season, Wanderbird always picks up feathered 'hitch hikers' such as warblers, swallow, sparrow and even raptors! While in southern seas, we see Tropic Birds, Magnificent Frigate Birds, Boobies and a variety of Gulls and Terns. Karen invites you to come aboard and join in viewing & photographing birds and other wildlife!
Here are just a few of the birding photographs taken by Karen while cruising aboard Wanderbird. Enjoy...
